What a Surveillance and Security Battery Specification Has to Pin Down
Most enquiries we receive specify capacity and voltage and stop there. For security & surveillance the parameters below decide whether the pack survives its intended service life, and they are the ones worth agreeing before a purchase order.

Three Mistakes We See Repeatedly
These come up often enough in security & surveillance projects that they are worth stating plainly. None of them are exotic; all of them are expensive to discover after tooling is committed.
Never testing the backup
Backup systems that are never load-tested fail on first use at a rate that surprises everyone. Schedule a discharge test, and log the result.
Sizing for the camera only
Cameras are the small load. Recorders, network switches, transmitters and IR illuminators usually dominate the power budget and get left out of the sizing sheet.
Lead-acid habits applied to lithium
Charge profiles, depth-of-discharge assumptions and end-of-life indicators are all different. A lithium pack managed like a lead-acid battery will underperform its specification.
