Why Agriculture Drones Need a Different Battery

A drone designed for photography or inspection is nothing like an agriculture sprayer. Agri drones carry liquid payloads of 10 to 40 litres, fly in tight coverage patterns, land and take off repeatedly, and operate for extended hours across seasons. The battery must keep up with all of this:

  • Heavy payload discharge: Lifting a full spray tank requires a sustained high-current draw right from the moment of takeoff. Batteries with poor peak discharge rates sag in voltage, reducing lift efficiency and shortening flight time precisely when it matters most.
  • Rapid cycling through the day: A productive spray operation runs 15–30 battery cycles in a working day. Standard LiPo packs degrade faster under this usage pattern; semi-solid state cells maintain capacity for significantly more cycles.
  • Heat stress in Indian fields: Paddy fields in Andhra Pradesh in May, cotton fields in Vidarbha in October, or mustard fields in Punjab in winter — each environment stresses the battery differently. Our cells operate stably across the Indian temperature range without thermal runaway risk.
