In medical devices, battery reliability isn't a convenience — it's patient safety. Leolus Energy manufactures custom lithium batteries for portable medical and healthcare equipment engineered for consistent voltage, predictable runtime and the kind of safety margins healthcare hardware demands.
As an Indian medical device battery manufacturer, we build packs with multi-layer protection and stable discharge for portable ECG machines, patient monitors, infusion pumps and diagnostic equipment — working with device OEMs to match exact runtime, form factor and certification needs.
Medical Devices We Power
Portable ECG Machines
Stable-voltage lithium packs for portable ECG and cardiac monitoring devices.
Patient Monitoring Systems
Reliable batteries for bedside and transport patient monitors needing uninterrupted operation.
Infusion Pumps
Precise, dependable packs for infusion and syringe pumps where consistent delivery is critical.
Portable Diagnostic Equipment
High-capacity batteries for handheld and portable diagnostic instruments.
Medical Tablets & Printers
Long-runtime packs for medical-grade tablets and portable medical printers.
Home Healthcare Devices
Safe, long-life batteries for home healthcare and personal medical devices.
Portable Medical Instruments
Custom packs for a wide range of portable diagnostic and therapeutic instruments.
What a Medical Device Battery Specification Has to Pin Down
Most enquiries we receive specify capacity and voltage and stop there. For medical devices the parameters below decide whether the pack survives its intended service life, and they are the ones worth agreeing before a purchase order.
| Parameter | Typical requirement | Why it decides the outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Traceability | Cell lot, pack serial, build date, test record | If a device is recalled, you have to be able to identify every pack built from an affected cell lot. Without lot-level traceability the recall is the whole population. |
| Design change control | Frozen bill of materials, notified changes only | A silent cell substitution invalidates the device's own validation. The pack BOM has to be locked and any change formally notified. |
| Runtime margin over specification | Typically 20–30% headroom | A device rated for four hours of transport should not be sized for exactly four hours at beginning of life, because it will not deliver four hours in year three. |
| Failure mode on depletion | Graceful, with advance warning | A monitor that shuts down without warning is a clinical event. The pack and BMS have to give the device enough margin to alarm and hand over. |
| Cleaning and ingress tolerance | Housing survives routine disinfection | Packs in clinical environments are wiped with alcohol and quaternary compounds daily. Housing material and seal choice have to survive that chemistry. |
Three Mistakes We See Repeatedly
These come up often enough in medical devices projects that they are worth stating plainly. None of them are exotic; all of them are expensive to discover after tooling is committed.
Treating the pack as a commodity
Medical packs carry documentation obligations that consumer packs do not. A supplier who cannot produce a build record per serial number is not a viable medical supplier, whatever the price.
Under-specifying temperature
Ambulance interiors and unconditioned storerooms routinely exceed 50°C in Indian summers. Validation at 25°C tells you nothing about that.
No end-of-life route
Clinical waste streams and battery waste streams are different. Devices reaching end of service need a documented route to a registered battery recycler.
If you are working through a specification and want a second opinion before committing, send it over — we would rather flag a problem at the drawing stage than build to a spec we know will disappoint. See how our custom pack process works.
