Which pack does your product actually need?

Most enquiries arrive asking for a voltage and a capacity. Those two numbers are usually the last things we settle, not the first. What decides the pack is the duty cycle — how hard the device pulls current, for how long, and in what ambient temperature. Get that wrong and a technically correct 7.4V 5000mAh pack still fails in the field.

Here is the shorthand we use internally when a new application comes in.

What we need from you to quote accurately

A quote built on voltage and capacity alone is a guess, and guesses get revised upward later. Five answers let us price a pack properly the first time:

  • Continuous current draw, and the peak. Peak matters even if it lasts two seconds — it sizes the BMS and the cell.
  • Required runtime per charge, and cycles per day. One deep cycle a day and four shallow ones age a pack very differently.
  • Charge method and time window. Overnight charging and a two-hour turnaround are different packs.
  • Ambient temperature at the worst end. Not the average — the worst. A pack specified for 25°C in a Chennai warehouse loft is under-specified.
  • Dimensional envelope and connector. Send the cavity drawing if you have one, or the pack you are replacing.

If you do not have all five, send what you have. We would rather ask two questions than quote a pack you cannot use.

Three things buyers underestimate

Cell grading matters more than cell brand. A pack is only as good as its weakest cell, because the BMS balances to it. We grade and match cells in-house by capacity and internal resistance before assembly. Two packs built from the same reel of cells can differ by 15% in usable life depending on whether anyone bothered to sort them.

Rated capacity is a claim until someone tests it. Since the February 2026 MeitY order, rated capacity on BIS-registered lithium cells has to be a lab-verified number. Ask any supplier what their rated capacity is measured at, and at what discharge rate. If the answer is vague, the number is decorative.

The replacement cycle is part of the purchase. A pack that costs 20% less and lasts 40% fewer cycles is not cheaper. For fleet deployments — delivery, agriculture, rental equipment — the second purchase usually arrives sooner than the budget assumed.
