What a Robotics and AMR Battery Specification Has to Pin Down

Most enquiries we receive specify capacity and voltage and stop there. For robotics & automation the parameters below decide whether the pack survives its intended service life, and they are the ones worth agreeing before a purchase order.

Communication protocol CAN bus or RS485 with documented register map A robot controller needs live cell voltages, temperature and state of charge to plan its own charging. An opaque BMS makes fleet scheduling impossible.
Cycle life at real depth of discharge ≥2,000 cycles at 60–70% DoD Robots cycle several times a day. At 300 working days a year, cycle life is the dominant term in total cost of ownership.

Sizing for runtime instead of throughput

The right question is tasks completed per shift, not hours per charge. A smaller pack with fast opportunity charging often beats a larger pack that has to be swapped.

Closed BMS

A pack whose state of charge cannot be read by the fleet manager forces conservative scheduling and wastes capacity. Insist on a documented protocol.

Thermal design for a stationary test

Packs tested on a bench in still air behave differently inside a sealed chassis with no airflow. Validate thermals in the actual enclosure.
