Defence Drone Batteries — High-Reliability UAV Power Systems
Semi-Solid State Batteries for Defence UAVs — Manufactured in India
Leolus Energy manufactures high-reliability semi-solid state drone batteries for defence, border surveillance, and military UAV applications. Our Nexfly batteries are designed to meet the stringent reliability, thermal stability, and energy density requirements of professional defence drone operations — and are 100% manufactured in India by an MSME-registered facility.
Mission-Critical Reliability
Semi-solid state technology eliminates thermal runaway risk. No liquid electrolyte means no fire risk in combat or border patrol conditions where LiPo puffing and venting are not acceptable outcomes.
Make in India Compliance
100% Indian-manufactured at our Bangalore facility. Meets Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) requirements for indigenously sourced components. MSME registered manufacturer.
Extreme Temperature Range
Nexfly batteries are rated from -20°C to +60°C. Consistent performance from Ladakh's high-altitude cold to Rajasthan and Gujarat's desert heat — across the full range of Indian operating environments.
Why Defence Drone Operations Require Better-Than-LiPo Batteries
Defence and border surveillance drones operate in conditions that expose battery technology weaknesses that commercial operators rarely encounter:
- Extreme temperature ranges: From Ladakh's -20°C to Rajasthan's 50°C — standard LiPo batteries fail at both extremes. Nexfly semi-solid state batteries operate from -20°C to +60°C without significant capacity penalty.
- High altitude operations: Reduced air pressure at 4,000m+ affects thermal dissipation and cell chemistry in liquid electrolyte batteries. Solid electrolyte chemistry is substantially less sensitive to pressure changes than LiPo.
- Mission-critical reliability: A battery failure over hostile terrain or at a critical point in a surveillance sortie is not a recoverable situation. Semi-solid state eliminates the primary failure mode — electrolyte instability — of LiPo batteries.
- Extended endurance requirements: Border surveillance missions routinely require 30–60 minutes of flight time. At 350 Wh/kg, Nexfly batteries enable longer endurance at the same takeoff weight compared to LiPo at 150–200 Wh/kg.
- Supply chain security: Defence procurement increasingly mandates indigenous sourcing. Leolus Energy is a 100% Indian manufacturer. No critical import dependency — supply is not disrupted by geopolitical events or shipping delays.
- No thermal runaway risk: LiPo batteries have a documented thermal runaway failure mode. In defence environments — particularly on-vehicle or inside aircraft — this is a structural safety constraint. Semi-solid electrolyte eliminates this mechanism.

Battery Management System — What's Included
Every Nexfly defence configuration includes a professional-grade BMS with the following protection and monitoring capabilities:
MOSFET-based protection with <1ms response time — prevents pack damage from impact or wiring faults
Temperature sensors at cell level — cutoff triggered if any zone exceeds threshold, not just average pack temperature
Active and passive balancing during charge. Maintains cell-to-cell voltage within ±5mV to preserve capacity and cycle life
BMS records fault events with timestamp. Critical for incident investigation and field maintenance protocols in defence operations
Defence Procurement and NDA Requirements
For defence and government procurement enquiries, Leolus Energy can provide full technical specifications, NDA agreements, MSME certification, and compliance documentation. We work with defence integrators, DRDO partners, and direct government procurement offices. All enquiries are handled confidentially.
